CIC administers oath of office to three new Information Commissioners
With their induction, the total number of Information Commissioners, including the Chief Information Commissioner, has risen to 8 in the Central Information Commission.
Narinder Chauhan took oath of the office of Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) and Sushil Chandra Srivastava took oath of the office of Information Commissioner in the presence of Governor, Acharya Devvrat in a simple but impressive ceremony held at Raj Bhawan, on Friday.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Virbhadra Singh was also present on the occasion.
Chauhan was a senior IAS officer with HP government and SS Srivastava had recently retired from IFS (Indian Forest Services).

Former Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) Chairman, KS Tomar was also a contender for the CIC’s post, but sources said Tomar could not win the race following certain objections by leader of opposition, Prem Kumar Dhumal.
In another notification, the state government gave three years extension in service to Dr Rajinder Chauhan as Pro-Vice Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU). He will continue to hold the charge of Vice Chancellor as well.
